We are fortunate to have an abundance of timbers from the areas around where we live which all lend themselves perfectly to the making of smooth and resonant sounding flutes.  Each wood has its own characteristics in this area, making some more suitable for certain keys than others.  Occasionally we come across unique specimens of these timbers which have striking patterns and features, these we save for specially custom made flutes.  If you're interested in a special piece of wood for your own flute, please ask and we'll let you know what we have on hand at the time.

	Medium strength, from gold to medium brown with straight grain and deep sheen, suitable all keys
	Soft wood, from golden to deep red with straight to wavy grain, suitable keys G and below
	Medium strength, from golden to blood red with straight to curly grain, suitable all keys
	Medium to hard, golden/dark brown layers with even grain, suitable keys F# and above
	Hard wood, light golden brown with wavy dark grain, suitable keys G and above
