SpiritWinds CD - music to relax to and be inspired by....

This is a CD of five beautiful, peaceful and relaxing songs that will help to inspire you to want to play your flute even more! The story of how the flute brought us together in partnership is played in song by Debruoniva using flutes in the keys of C, D, E & F# - you can use the CD to play along with or just relax and let the haunting echoes of the woodland tones carry you to a place deep within where peace reigns.

Music is a reflection of a journey, of emotion. The woodland flute is especially good at evoking a myriad of emotions, from deep and longing to playful and gentle. Each of the songs on the SpiritWinds CD is a picture in music of how the beauty of the flute brought us together at a time in our lives when peace was hard to find.

We hope the expression of this music brings peace and relaxation, and for those who feel drawn to this instrument, the inspiration to begin playing yourself!

Here are the stories behind the tracks . . . . .

Shifting Sands - F#      3:23
Both Tony and I were at great points of change in our lives when we individually went hiking on the World Heritage listed Fraser Island, a magnificent place of natural beauty and wonder. The shifting sands of the dunes served to remind us that everything comes and everything goes and to be grateful that change is a natural process.

Timekeepers - Low D     5:09
The enormous trees that once populated Fraser Island had mostly been logged prior to it being recognised for its ecological significance. Still, a few of them remain as echoes of a past where stillness reigned and peace was a given.

Parallel Worlds - E     4:26
In many traditions around the world there are stories of how our ancestors watch over us from a parallel world and that if we still ourselves long enough to listen they will reach out and touch us with their silent whispers. There are many places on Fraser Island where we could literally feel those who have walked before us reaching across from their world to speak to our hearts.

Dreamtime Gift - F#     2:38
Perhaps the greatest treasure that we both received from "the Great Sandy Island" was the gift of the flute. It was through a succession of dreams while hiking that Tony learnt how to make the flute (having never played music or made instruments before and certainly having known nothing of Native American traditions!). During this time, Debruoniva too had been dreaming of a map of Fraser Island and a man playing a strange flute. We will both be forever grateful for the blessings that were brought forth into our lives and henceforth the world through the gift of our dreams.

Journey Home - Low C#     6:11
Since joining together to create SpiritWinds, we have embarked on what we see is to be a lifetime journey of making, playing and connecting people to the flute. The adventures it has taken us on so far have served to further awaken in us a desire to help reignite the understanding of how music can heal the heart. There are many people who find that the soothing tones of the flute are able to create a sense of deep stillness and wonder within them and it is this feeling that we hope spreads to affect the world in a positive way.
